TREAT-NMD is pleased to announce the 2025 Becker Muscular Dystrophy (BMD) Education and Engagement days. Building on the success of last years events, we are hosting two in-person events this September, designed specially for those living with BMD, their families, and carers.
These events aim to provide patients with high-quality information on clinical care and research, as well as the opportunity to connect with others in the BMD community. Each event will feature expert-led sessions, opportunities for discussion, and time for informal connection with other attendees.

What to Expect
The programme will include presentations and workshops on key topics related to BMD, including cardiac care, physiotherapy, psychological support, genetics, and current research developments. Sessions will be interactive, allowing attendees to ask questions and take part in smaller group discussions.
A central focus of the events is to provide space for peer support and shared learning. Attendees will hear directly from others living with BMD and have opportunities to engage with both professionals and fellow patients throughout the programme.
Language and Accessibility
- The Newcastle event will be delivered in English.
- The Malaga event will be supported by simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, Italian, French, and German.
Costs and Travel Support
The events are free to attend. A contribution towards travel and accommodation expenses will be available for each registered participant and one accompanying family member or carer. Full details, including eligibility and reimbursement processes, will be shared with attendees once places are confirmed.
Who Can Attend
These events are open to individuals aged 14 and over living with BMD, along with one companion (such as a family member or carer).
How to Register
Places are limited, and we encourage early registration. Expressions of interest can be submitted via the relevant links above. Further information, including travel details, agenda highlights, and speaker announcements, will be shared with confirmed attendees closer to the date.
We look forward to welcoming you to Newcastle or Malaga in September 2025 for what promises to be an informative and inspiring gathering for the BMD community.
