On 7th and 8th December, the Education team hosted our first ever masterclass dedicated solely to Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD). This exciting addition to our masterclass series saw the team welcome healthcare professionals from across Europe to the city of Barcelona where delegates were immersed in education focused specifically on the diagnosis, treatment and care of individuals with BMD.
The masterclass featured sessions dedicated to the most up to date information on diagnosis, the patient and parent perspective, standards of care as well as current and emerging therapies. Our delegates benefitted from interacting live with leading specialists in the neuromuscular field and discussing topics of interest amongst themselves during networking opportunities.
The TREAT-NMD Education team would like to thank the TREAT-NMD Education Committee for creating an excellent programme and for welcoming colleagues who are experts in their field to share and discuss the latest research, science, and standards of care in this disease area.
Every session of the event was highly engaging, valuable and well-received; however, our session offering the patient perspective on topics such as diagnosis and daily life were particularly profound. We would like to say a special thank you to Lasse Blichfeldt Haastrup and Keith Robson for joining us at the event and sharing their own personal experiences with delegates and staff.
The feedback received from delegates has been incredibly positive with many commenting that the event was well organised and that the sessions and speakers were excellent. Many delegates commented on the effective use of the Masterclass App which allowed easy communication and opportunities for interactivity.
The TREAT-NMD Education team would like to thank everyone who contributed to the masterclass, and we hope to host another event dedicated to Becker muscular dystrophy in the near future.
